Patrons are required to schedule a 1-1 appointment to learn how to use the laser engraver and xTool Creative Space (XCS) software before making an equipment reservation.
Please Note: Reserving the laser engraver does not reserve a laptop. You must add a laptop to your cart separately. You may also download the xTool Creative Space (XCS) software and bring your personal laptop to prepare your file for engraving.
The xTool F1 laser engraver has a 10W diode laser which can cut softwoods, leather and acrylic up to 1/4" thick and a 2W infrared laser used to engrave metal (gold, silver, stainless steel, etc). Dozens of materials are supported and it has a 4.5” maximum working area.
Use of the laser engraver is free when patrons bring their own material. ALL materials must be approved by Groundworks staff prior to use and patrons MUST bring materials with either the store receipt or its original packaging. Engraving and cutting the wrong material can cause fires or create noxious fumes.
